TSUCHIGUMO DAIKO 

EAST COAST TAIKO - Wednesday Nights @ 19:00 - 20:30

This class in the Edinburgh area is great place to start your Taiko journey with Tsuchigumo, if you live on the east coast. Here you can learn how to play Taiko from scratch, or if you have some experience, you can improve your basic playing technique, fitness and flexibility, and above all, have some fun in a friendly, no-pressure environment. There is no upper age limit, but participants must be at least 16 years old unless accompanied by an adult.

You'll learn the foundations of Tsuchigumo's approach to playing the Taiko. In each session we work through our Taiko basics (kihon), such as the grip, general striking technique (waza), stance, posture and basic movements (kata), and use of verbal notation (kuchi shoga). The focus then shifts to playing a series of drills and exercises (uchikomi) to help develop the foundational elements and provide tools to articulate ideas musically on the drum. The class also learns a range of repertoire throughout the year.

Classes cost £12.50 per session, which is collected in four week blocks. Students and unemployed receive a 25% discount.
