TSUCHIGUMO "KAIZEN"
Tuesday Nights @ 18:00 - 19:15
Our "KAIZEN" group is suitable for players with some Taiko experience who are seeking to improve their skills. This is where you can learn the foundations of Tsuchigumo's approach to Taiko in a low pressure environment. In each session we work on Taiko basics (kihon), such as the grip, general striking technique (waza), stance, posture and basic movements (kata), and use of verbal notation (kuchi shoga). We utilise a series of drills and exercises to help strengthen and develop the foundational elements and provide tools to articulate ideas musically on the drum.
Every three to four months, the group begins work on a new song or Taiko drumming style from our repertoire of original and open source compositions, so we only accept new students at the beginning of a block. If you'd like to join this group, it's best to have some experience of playing, but we do accept brave beginners who are not afraid to learn as they go. There is no upper age limit, but participants must be at least 16 years old unless accompanied by an adult.
Classes cost £12.50 per session, which is usually collected in four week blocks.
We are located in Headhunter Studios in Kinning Park, which is close to both Kinning Park and Shields Road subway stations.
