Before picking up his bachi for the first time, Andrew studied Music at The University of the Highlands and Islands in Perth, attaining his Degree in 2010. Initially a self taught musician, Andrew enjoyed a spell as a guitar teacher and performer in a number of Funk-Rock bands as a songwriter, singer and guitarist, touring Glasgow's music scene for 7 years where he played his first gig at the tender age of 13! Andrew was introduced to Taiko by Tsuchigumo's Co-Founder Martin Doyle in 2015, where after a couple of workshops, was immediately captured by its blend of power, rhythm, movement and spirit. This weekly pastime has now grown into Andrew's life's pursuit, which has taken him to Japan where he studied with various Taiko Masters, and since then, he's always planning his next Taiko adventure! Andrew balances his passion for Taiko with his full time job as a Headhunter, and in his spare time you'll find him binge watching Anime, playing old school role playing games, weight training, adding to his ever growing beer bottle cap collection, or falling through stages.
